Choosing CMS for your website - what options do you have?

There are some popular open-source CMS's, the fact of the matter is they are simply NOT the best CMS's on the market. All of the thousands of content management systems on the market have their own strengths. There are some that are suited better to blogging, some that are great for complicated projects requiring more of a framework and some that are better for multilingual websites. We would like to help you to choose the best option for your business.

What are the differences between Sailing Byte's CMS and open source CMSs?

Sailing CMS Open Source CMS
Website Performance

CMS is a system created and adapted to the functionality from the beginning to the end, which allows you to control every aspect. Thanks to this, the site works much faster and can deal with a lot more users because it does not consume as many server resources.

CMS like WordPress or Joomla are very „heavy” for the system and are dedicated to specific functionality, for example WordPress is, first and foremost, a blogging platform and the most important feature is writing blog posts. CMS relies on Database Calls for HTML content. What this means to you, the site owner is it takes longer to view pages. There is no denying it or getting around it. If you own a busy site, you can literally track the time between page loads with a stopwatch.

Adding new functionality

CMS is based on a transparent programming model, thanks to which the addition of new functionalities is not problematic in any way. We can create something completely new to meet all your requirements.

CMS offers many free plugins, but their functionality may not meet our expectations. EACH of the plugins is written by another person, in a different way and with a different result. Quoting the Internet: "We can obtain a really great template that will sweep many WordPress stalkers off their feet, but when we look "under the hood" it turns out that the organization of code and files is a sick fantasy of a drunk PHP master!". If we try to add any functionality, firstly we must break through the ideas of "drunk master", get to know this code and try to add something, and then check if it still works with the rest of the functionality. It is a complete waste of time. It is also worth remembering that if we decide to edit the plugin - it loses the ability to update, patching future security holes and optimize. On top of this, a HUGE percentage of the plugins repository is old and out of date yet still available to install on your system. This is a huge issue as these older plugins still exist and are not removed. Someone can unknowingly install something that can expose their website to vulnerabilities.

Appearance

The SCMS is 100% editable - each page, including the administrative panel, can be customized according to the client's needs.

Each of the free templates is written by a different person - what you first need to learn about the template's principle of operation - it takes time and then proceeds to edit. The appearance of the administration panel and it's functionality is much less editable.

Safe and Secure

SCMS passes security tests. Our team constantly updates the platform. The scripts are written by us, thanks to that we have control over code quality and website security.

Hackers deem CMSes to be appealing targets. It is easy for some to assume that since WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal are such recognizable names, they must be providing some form of protection. However, the opposite is true. Fact is, CMSes are vulnerable by nature because they are built on open source frameworks. Such a shared development environment offers several benefits but they also have their share of flaws, many of which arise from a lack of accountability.

Scalability

If you want to extend the functionality of the website to other subdomains/domains, we use the same unified code - it is completely trouble-free.

Each new subdomain/domain is another large CMS installation that causes massive slowdowns in load time and performance.

By using SCMS you are able to use our premium features, like:

  • one click integrity checking
  • one click RWD checking with screenshots
